The Frequency Festival is Austria’s largest festival with over 130,000 visitors. This year we were asked to create the animation sequences for the official trailer. Our friends at VAKAT directed the video and provided footage and drone shots. Together we developed a distinct indie look as well as a color scheme for the trailer.
We used a mix of After Effects and Cinema 4D to create the animations and then cut everything together in Premiere. Some of the more complicated camera-tracked shots were created directly in After Effects however, which required those shots to be re-rendered after grading was finished towards the end of the project.
Physical distance was also a big challenge, as VAKAT is Berlin-based, in comparison to our Vienna-based operations. We shared a Google Drive and were able to optimize our workflow quite well. Over 2000 keyframes later, we finally had a finished product.
